of German Village
Fred J Heer founded his own printing company which in 1930 was the largest of its kind in central Ohio. He introduced, in 1897, the first linotype machine ever used in the area.

The linotype machine was cutting edge in the 1890's. It could produce an entire line of metal type at once, a big improvement over manual letter by letter typesetting.
