Barbara Schwab
Barbara is an example of courage dealing with the tragic cost of war. Born in Bavaria in 1818, she was left to raise her four children alone beginning in 1863, when her husband George died during the Civil War. She lived at the same home on South Third Street until her death in 1897, with her youngest son George, supporting them both as a house painter.
