To acknowledge and honor the people who have shared our homes and shops in German Village for the last 150 years.
German Village House Histories had it's beginning in 2004 when Dave Randall, newly retired, was encouraged by his wife Alison to get off the couch and find something to do. As they lived in a house in the Village that was reportedly 150 years old, an interest in finding out who lived there since its beginning became the first project. As this necessitated a page by page search of the City Directories at the Columbus Public Library, looking for the history of just one house seemed a little silly. This logic led to the building four years later of a data base covering most all houses and businesses in the Village from the Civil War to the present. Their additional interest in photography led to the primary product of this hobby/business, the creation of pictoral histories of German Village homes featuring the names, and occupation of prior residents.
