Robert Stevenson was born in 1832 near Zanesville. He graduated with distinction from Madison College, Interim,o, in 1854. Before becoming superintendent of schools in Columbus, he had the same position in Dresden, Ohio. Before his death in 1893, he was a nationally known educator.
