Peter Leitwein was born in 1867 in Germany. He immigrated in 1885, married Sophy in 1897, and , by 1910, had five children.
Peter worked
as a laster as early as 1894. A laster is one who worked or shaped shoes on a last, the mould of the human foot made of wood and used
to shape footwear.
